QEP Setup for Deans/Lead Faculty

Beginning Fall 2024, the QEP outcomes from previous terms will be replaced by the Information Fluency (IF) ISLO.

Log into AEFIS and navigate to the Assignment Linking Manager screen. You can also pull up each section individually from the Course Sections screen, if you prefer.

If you are using the Assignment Linking Manager, filter your results by term, college (Lake-Sumter State College), and department:

On the Assignment Linking Manager, choose your section from the left-hand column and scroll through the outcome options until you find “Information Fluency.” If the IF outcome is not an option, contact Caitlin Skiles (skilesc@lssc.edu) to have it added.

Click the Information Fluency outcome to view linked assignments. Check for red error messages and review linked criteria.

If you see a red error message*, it probably means that the assignment name has changed in Canvas. Because Canvas does not have a unique identifier for AEFIS to match assignments, it matches by assignment name. As a result, Canvas assignment names must match the AEFIS assignment name exactly, or the linking will break.

To add or edit a linking, click the blue “Manage” button. Check the box next to the correct assignment, then click the grey “Criteria” button to view rubric options. Check the boxes next to the four IF ISLO criteria. The “Weight” values will automatically update as you select the items, so you do not need to update them.

If the IF ISLO criteria are missing, check the rubric in Canvas**. You can use the “Information Fluency Rubric Template” Word document to copy/paste the criteria into your rubric. Keep in mind that AEFIS requires a point value for rubric items, even if it’s .25 for each item (for total of one point). If no point value is assigned, the results will not transfer into AEFIS.

Click the blue “Save Links” button to apply your changes.

*Error messages will also be thrown if the assignment is unpublished or deleted, or if the assignment has no points associated with it. However, the most common issue is that the assignment name does not match.

**If you are adding the criteria to an existing rubric, see the “ISLO – Integrating Existing Rubric” PDF for additional details. If you are creating a brand new rubric, see the “ISLO – New Rubric Setup” PDF.
