Installing and Using Cisco Secure Client for VPN access

Step 1: Open Microsoft Edge

  • Click the Start Menu and search for Microsoft Edge.
  • Launch the browser.

Step 2: Go to the VPN Portal

  • In the address bar, type:
    https://vpn.lssc.edu
    and press Enter.

Step 3: Sign In Using Your LSSC Credentials

  • You’ll be redirected to the Single Sign-On (SSO) login page.
  • Enter your LSSC email address and password.

Step 4: Complete Cisco Duo Multi-Factor Authentication

  • After entering your credentials, you’ll be prompted to verify your identity using Cisco Duo.
  • Choose one of the available options:
    • Send Me a Push (via Duo Mobile app)
    • Call Me
    • Enter a Passcode

Tip: If you use the Duo Mobile app, make sure your phone is nearby and connected to the internet.

Step 5: Download the Cisco Secure Client

  • Once authenticated, the portal will check for the VPN client.
  • If the Cisco Secure Client is not installed or outdated, you’ll see a prompt to download it.

You may see messages like:

  • “Cisco Secure Client is required to connect.”
  • “Download and install the VPN client to proceed.”
  • A download may start automatically, or you may need to click a Download button.

Step 6: Install the Client

  • If prompted, click “Open file” or go to your Downloads folder and double-click the installer.
  • Follow the installation wizard:
    • Accept the license agreement.
    • Proceed through the installation steps.
    • Click Finish when done.

Step 7: Launch and Configure Cisco Secure Client

  • Open the Cisco Secure Client from the Start Menu or system tray.
  • If the VPN server field is blank, enter:
    vpn.lssc.edu
  • Click Connect.

Step 8: Authenticate Again

  • Enter your SSO credentials.
  • Complete Cisco Duo MFA once more if prompted.
  • Once connected, you’ll see a “Connected” status.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Do not install Cisco Secure Client on personal or privately owned computers.
    This software is intended only for LSSC-issued hardware.
