Overview
Beginning January 1, 2026, Lake-Sumter State College will deactivate Microsoft 365 licenses for student accounts that are no longer active.
Microsoft no longer provides perpetual licenses, so inactive accounts will no longer retain access indefinitely.
Who Is Affected
Students who have not been enrolled or active for three (3) or more consecutive semesters will be considered inactive.
What Will Change
When an account becomes inactive:
- Microsoft licenses associated with that student account will be removed.
- Access to Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) through your Lakehawk account will end.
- Your Lakehawk email account will be closed and you will no longer receive email to that address.
- All content in the email account and OneDrive will be permanently deleted.
If a student later re-enrolls, their Lakehawk email address will remain the same, but no previous mailbox or file content can be recovered.
Required Action by December 31, 2025
If you are impacted by this change, please export or back up any important emails and OneDrive files before December 31, 2025.
After that date, all inactive accounts and associated data will be permanently removed.
How to Export Your Outlook Emails
Follow these steps to download or back up your emails from your Lakehawk Outlook account:
1. Open Outlook
- Use the Outlook desktop app, or sign in at [portal.office.com](https://portal.office.com) with your Lakehawk credentials.
2. Access the Import/Export tool
- In Outlook, select File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
3. Choose an export option
- Select Export to a file and click Next.
- Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
4. Select what to export
- Click your email address at the top of the folder list to include all messages, contacts, and calendar items.
- Click Next.
5. Save the backup file
- Select where you’d like to save the `.pst` file on your computer (for example, Documents or an external drive).
- Click Finish.
- You may set an optional password for extra security.
Once saved, this file can be imported into another Outlook account or stored safely for future access.
