Q: What is the last day of employment for ALL student employees?
A: The last day of regular full-year student employment is June 30th. Supervisors must complete a new EAR to retain their student employees on or before July 1st.
Q: A student employee graduates this semester; what is his last day of employment?
A: The last day of employment is the last day of final exams (see the academic calendar for current dates).
Q: A student employee is taking 6 credits and dropping (i.e., unenrolling) from a 3-credit class. Do they remain eligible for employment?
A: No, the student will no longer be eligible for student employment! They must be enrolled in 6 credits.
Q: A student employee is enrolled in 6 credits and withdrawing from one of the 3-credit courses. Do they remain eligible for employment?
A: Yes, until the end of the semester (see the academic calendar for current dates). They must reenroll into 6 credits in spring or fall, as applicable, to remain employment-eligible.
Q: Can a student employee work the week between the end of classes and winter break?
A: Yes, as long as the college is open. Be sure to pay close attention to the due dates on timesheets and confirm that they are completed accordingly.
Q: Can a student employee work at graduation or the week before/after spring or fall break?
A: Yes, if they are not graduating themselves, and as long as the college is open for business and they do not exceed the total of 20 allowed work hours. They must also be enrolled in 6 credits for either spring or fall semester (as applicable).
