How to Download & Install Microsoft 365 (Office Apps) – LSSC Students
Purpose. This article explains how current LSSC students can download, install, and activate Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) using their Lakehawk Mail account. Students receive Microsoft 365 access as part of their enrollment. [1](https://lssc-public.courseleaf.com/admissions-records-registration/admissions/lssc-student-email-account/)
Eligibility Requirements
- Active enrollment: You must be an active LSSC student. Students who are inactive for three or more consecutive semesters lose access to Microsoft 365 and OneDrive data. [2](https://lssc.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/302/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=18409)
- Lakehawk Mail account: Use your assigned Lakehawk address (
firstname.lastname@student.lssc.edu). This account includes Microsoft 365 access. [1](https://lssc-public.courseleaf.com/admissions-records-registration/admissions/lssc-student-email-account/)
Important: If your account becomes inactive, your Microsoft 365 license, Lakehawk mailbox, and OneDrive data are permanently removed. Back up important items before you lose access. [2](https://lssc.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/302/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=18409)
Install Microsoft 365 (Office) – Step by Step
Step 1 — Open Your Lakehawk Mail
- Go to the LSSC Homepage and click Lakehawk Mail.
- Sign in with your Lakehawk email address and password. [3](https://www.lssc.edu/wp-content/uploads/IT_Office365InstallInstructions.pdf)
Step 2 — Go to the Microsoft 365 Install Page
- After sign-in, click the gear icon (top-right).
- Select Office 365.
- Choose Software or Manage Software to see all available apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher, and more). [3](https://www.lssc.edu/wp-content/uploads/IT_Office365InstallInstructions.pdf)
Do not use “Install Now” on the first screen after login — it installs only Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Use Gear → Office 365 → Software/Manage Software to install the full suite. [3](https://www.lssc.edu/wp-content/uploads/IT_Office365InstallInstructions.pdf)
Step 3 — Install
- Select your preferred language.
- Click Install.
- Accept the License Agreement and continue through the prompts to finish. [3](https://www.lssc.edu/wp-content/uploads/IT_Office365InstallInstructions.pdf)
Step 4 — Activate Your Apps
- Open any Office app (e.g., Word).
- When prompted, sign in with your Lakehawk Mail account to activate your license. [1](https://lssc-public.courseleaf.com/admissions-records-registration/admissions/lssc-student-email-account/)
Keeping Your Access
- Maintain enrollment to keep Microsoft 365 access.
- If you become inactive for 3+ semesters, your license and data will be removed. Export or back up your mailbox and OneDrive files in advance. [2](https://lssc.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/302/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=18409)
Troubleshooting
I don’t see all the applications.
Make sure you navigated via Gear → Office 365 → Software/Manage Software. The “Install Now” button only installs a partial app set. [3](https://www.lssc.edu/wp-content/uploads/IT_Office365InstallInstructions.pdf)
I can’t sign in.
Confirm you are using your Lakehawk address (firstname.lastname@student.lssc.edu). If you just enrolled, check your personal email for account activation instructions. [1](https://lssc-public.courseleaf.com/admissions-records-registration/admissions/lssc-student-email-account/)
I think my account is inactive.
Accounts become inactive after three semesters of no enrollment; Microsoft services are removed. Contact the Support Desk if you need help after re-enrolling. [2](https://lssc.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/302/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=18409)
